Buzz 502 #1 Posted November 14, 2013 While checking the craigslist ads I found this: 856 model 8HP with snow plow. Runs good - needs clutch ($200 or B.O.) Do you think it's missing the belt guard?

Sparky-(Admin) 19,564 #3 Posted November 14, 2013 Sellers like this are usually easy to deal with....you tell em "yep, the clutch is bad and so is the catalitic converter, and the wiper motor aint wipin, and the backup bulbs are both blown out". They practically pay you to haul it off their property . Mike.............
wallfish 15,934 #4 Posted November 14, 2013 Could be a bad muffler bearing but I'd bet the belt is stretched and slipping.
Buzz 502 #5 Posted November 14, 2013 Best jump on it. Clutches are cheap. I'm going to pass on this without even looking at it. I've got too many projects and not enough time (or ambition).

flyovrcntry 115 #11 Posted November 14, 2013 We had a new kid on the job one time, and he came to work one day driving his dads new Caddy. His car broke down ,I think. One of the guy's asked him what that noise was when he was coming down the road. One of the guy's said it sounds like a muffler bearing, have you been doggin that car.At lunch the kid went to the garage, and the guy said son, they are messin with you. They rode that kid for years about that

mike67 33 #15 Posted November 15, 2013 Better check the piston return springs. Since they're made from unobtainium they are almost impossible to find.
