Gator 1 #1 Posted November 13, 2013 Hello everyone. I just joined this site as I discovered a wealth of information while reading over all of the posts. Thanks for providing newbees like me with so much information. I recently acquired a Wheel Horse 700 for what I thought was a fair deal. Not much knowledge here on the WH but I remember my dad having one years ago so I had to have this one. I usually fool around with old Briggs, Maytags, and similar engines but I saw this and had to have it. Got the mower deck and the plow in the deal. Put a battery in her and she fired right up and drove like a charm. I located a model number of I 3475. Not very knowledgeable on these tractors so any information that could be provided would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all.
stevasaurus 23,281 #2 Posted November 13, 2013 Welcome to Red Square... I think you meant to type "1-3745" It is a 1969 Work Horse 700, it has a Wheel Horse transmission...4 speed # 5053 and should have a 7hsp Tecumseh H70-130043 engine. I hope you know that we like pictures. Welcome aboard.
GlenPettit 1,717 #3 Posted November 13, 2013 Welcome to Red Square! A model 1-3745 is a 1969 Workhorse 700. All your manuals are available here as free downloads, (for the tractor, deck & plow) and and there are photos of restored 700's in the Photo section. Nice tractor, and more important to you because of the personal connection.
Gator 1 #4 Posted November 13, 2013 I tried to attach some photos but was unsuccessful. It kept saying the file was to big. I took them with my phone but there must be some way to attach the pics. I'll keep trying. By the way, I did mistype the model number. It is a 1-3745 and it does have a Tecumseh 7hp engine with three forward gears and a reverse. Overall it is in really good shape. I will try again to post some pics. Was this tractor made exclusively in 1969? Also is this a so - so collectible tractor. Either way I like it and I believe she just needs some TLC for now. Thanks all!!!
stevasaurus 23,281 #5 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) I upload my photos to Photo Bucket and then I am able to attach the IMG code as a link to the picture and post it in a thread. The service is free and (there are others out there) is a good way to save pictures on an external source. It does seem like a lot of new members are having trouble putting their photos on this site. There is a couple of threads in sections on this site that talk about ways to add photos. Check in the Finding Your Way Around in Red Square Section. I am not sure how rare your horse is, but it is a 1969. To most of us here...any Wheel Horse is collectable as they do not make them anymore. 953 nut 60,086 #6 Posted November 13, 2013 If you download the photos to your computer then open them in paintbrush you can resize then by going to image on the top tool bar, click on stretch/skew and change the vertical and horizontal from 100 to 25. Now rename and save it and you can post the resized photo.
KC9KAS 4,744 #7 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) Gator.... I have a Workhorse 700 but the 7hp Techy has a governer problem, so I have a newer 10hp Techy installed. It is a nice machine for mowing my yard. I have the hood off because the air cleaner hits the side of the hood and I wasn't sure I wanted to cut a 1/2 moon shape out of the hood. Gator 1 #8 Posted November 14, 2013 Thanks a lot. I changed the size of the pics in paintbrush and then saved them to my comp. I was then able to attach them to the forum. Here she is in all her glory. Any feedback on the new addition would be appreciated. By the way, the old cultivator in the background was from another swap.
