Theswampthing 8 #1 Posted November 9, 2013 I picked up this machine earlier today. Needs odds and ends, doesn't run at the moment, but it came with a plow and everything seems to be there. Problem is, I really have no idea what model it is. Also don't know if that's the original engine. The lady I bought it from said it ran a few years ago, and parked it when she got a new snowblower. We shall see. I'd like to get it running for snow duty, and go over it good in the spring. Tomorrow I'm gonna put some gas in it, charge a battery, and see if we have spark and fuel. Jake Kuhn 1,579 #2 Posted November 9, 2013 Nice little horse....looks like a workhorse 700.
Theswampthing 8 #3 Posted November 9, 2013 Did some more looking on the site and the interwebs, and it may be a 656, if it was a Tecumseh originally. I think this because of the square indent on the belt guard. It looks a lot like the workhorse, though.
Sparky-(Admin) 23,158 #4 Posted November 10, 2013 Is the model# ID tag still on it? It should be rivited under the dash (I think). Going by the decals that appear under the red paint on the hood its probably a 1965 or 1966 machine. Mike..........
546cowboy 302 #5 Posted November 10, 2013 It could be a 1965 655 or a 1966 656 by the looks of it. I have had both and there really isn't much difference between the two. Here are some pics of the ones I had. Of course neither one of these has the original engine in them.
Theswampthing 8 #6 Posted November 10, 2013 So I had some time to mess with it today. I dumped out the old gas, added fresh gas, cleaned the plug and it fired up. It runs rough, but that's to be expected. Needs a new plug and the carb cleaned, and some other odds and ends. It looks like I have to adjust the throttle linkage, because that is definitely not working right. Engine seems strong, and doesn't smoke, so I'm happy with it. Hopefully it's ready to push some snow shortly. Also did some closer inspection, and it seems like it says 856 on the belt gaurd. gonna check the numbers under the dash to find out for sure, though. love this little thing already
