ih674 10 #1 Posted November 7, 2013 Might be of interest to some, our new purchase arrived today. We got the tractor going after a bit of cleaning (points, coil, carb etc) so decided to fit the mower. All well so far we got it all bolted on OK but we are missing the lift rod and trhe rod that holds it up for transport. Ill get the materials needed to make these parts at the weekend and hopefully get it sorted. The original parts drawing and manual are a saviour and of course the ability to search this forum! Sorry about the picture quality, the barn is lacking lights. James . . .
AMC RULES 37,196 #2 Posted November 7, 2013 I think those sickle bar mowers might be my favorite attachment.
CasualObserver 3,411 #3 Posted November 8, 2013 I LOVE those overseas weights. That's only the second set I've seen. Wish we had those over here. Via Tapatalk
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,490 #4 Posted November 8, 2013 Curious to know what the model and serial number are on this tractor. Made in Belgium? Garry
neil 2,410 #5 Posted November 8, 2013 Im not sure Garry , but i would have a guess that this tractor would be made in South Bend . That is a great set up that you have there James , some things are really worth spending the extra ££££ $$$$ to have . as these things just dont come up for sale very often . Im sure you are gonna have plenty of fun using that sickle mower next year . I would be interested to see how close the sickle cutter would cut the grass. Love the wheel weights too . ih674 10 #6 Posted November 8, 2013 Curious to know what the model and serial number are on this tractor. Made in Belgium? Via Tapatalk 4 So are these weights specifically european type? Cheers, James As far as I've observed, yes. My guess is that they were cast over there near the Belgium plant. (Simple cast iron weights seem to me like something you would definitely want to produce locally to maximize profit margin on them.) The other set I've seen was posted here on RS several years ago by another UK member. Sadly, I don't recall who it was, and though I've looked for the other post several times, I have not been able to locate it. Unfortunately it's also possible that the other post is one of the ones that were lost in our RedSquare independence move.
Anglo Traction 761 #10 Posted November 8, 2013 Good haul James, Glad someone on here got it and that the price was reasonable to you. A very good ensemble of WH stuff, especially the Sickle Bar. It's a U.S built Model, but I could not identify it to any particular Model and does not have a Julien Build Date section/number on the Plate. Depends when in 1967 it was shipped in/purchased. Could even be a 606 from the previous year with C7 Stickers?. Also depends what Kohler you actually have in it.... 6 or 7 hp ?. Either way , it look's like it has been cared for or not used very much. Look forward to seeing what you do with it. Regards
farmer 1,078 #11 Posted November 8, 2013 Nice 'bundle' James, that sickle bar makes hay making possible for you. I think several euro members have the rear weights (myself included), the fronts are even more of a rarity.

Without knowing about them, i agree, a simple thing to make and the weight it would be silly to ship them over. Good haul James, Glad someone on here got it and that the price was reasonable to you. Just assembled the cultivator on my other commando 7, and although its got surface rust the points still had stickers on them and the tine arms werent even marked so it appears its never been built up. Also got the mower filled with oil and run up. Ill post the link to the video of the mower when its uploaded. Again sorry for the picture quality. If the weathers good sunday ill get them outside. Anyone else going to newark this weekend? James
