M550 4 #1 Posted August 29, 2008 Hi all. New to the forum and fairly new to Toro as well. I am from Luxembourg, Europe. Close to 50 now. Time flies!!!! and so many things to do still. I own a 268H, 2 cyl Kohler engine, 16HP, 48' mowing deck. Just bought this 523DXi in Germany for a relatively good price (at least for me. Not for the wife!!)1999, 334 hrs on the clock, never been washed nor cleaned. Found a TON of debris/grass/hay everywhere. Engine is damaged and needs a new cylinder block (1st guess). I have had no time to take the engine apart but took it out of the Toro. It's a Daihatsu/BS 3LC diesel engine. Got in touch with a few shop back in the US for new replacement engine + other bids. They are calculating the shipping cost. I guess! Well this is it for the moment. Will post picture of the 268H later on from home. Will try to shoot pictures of the engine stripping for everyone information as well as to see if my 1st guess at what's wrong is right. Engine blowing water thru the exhaust like a waterfall!!!!!
