victor3ranger 11 #1 Posted October 31, 2013 I am very new to wheel hosres so be easy on me. I have what I think is a 1961 551 wheel horse that I want to rebuild but I have not got any idea what these had as far as a motor. It also has a Wheel Horse tiller which I have no idea of what the motor is on it. Or where to get replacement wheels.
CasualObserver 3,411 #2 Posted October 31, 2013 Yes, you have a 1961 model 551, and what also appears to be a 1961 WT-241 Tiller. Engine on your tractor is a Lauson H55D-2113 Engine on your tiller is a Lauson V55D-2339P Very cool setup.
SousaKerry 503 #3 Posted October 31, 2013 (edited) Can't help you on the tiller but the tractor should have a Tecumseh H-55, they get a bad rap around here but I have a 3 tecky powered machines now, they are a bit more finiky then most other motors but once you understand the basics they are not bad. If you browse through the manuals section (link is at the top of the page) you should find almost everything you would ever want to know about your tractor, implement, and motors. Most of us here are fairly friendly and will try to help you through any specific questions. Your tractor should be a model T-551 in the manuals section. Awe man CasualObserver you beat me to it and showed me up in the process... Oh and Tecumseh and Lawton are the same thing one bought the other I think.
