JimmyZ 176 #1 Posted October 7, 2013 I got the Wheel Horse worker that I've been waiting forever to find. She's a Keeper. 1985 417-8 with 555 hours. I picked it up from the original owner.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,534 #2 Posted October 7, 2013 That is a really nice 417-8 Those must be a family thing! I know you like it but you are not thinking of throwing a tecky in there- lol I noticed it has a lift handle.. I thought all the 417-8's had electric lift? JimmyZ 176 #3 Posted October 7, 2013 I think E-lift was added in 1986. I could always swap out the KT for the Techy HH120.
JackC 617 #4 Posted October 7, 2013 Nice find. Very clean and low hours. The Kohler KT17 twin cylinder flat head is a great running engine. I believe 1985 was the first year of the KT17 Series II with full pressure lubrication.
Wheel-N-It 2,976 #5 Posted October 7, 2013 Its gonna be hard to top that one!!! I love my 417-A. Like Steve, I too thought all 417-8's had electric lift. I learned something new about Wheel Horses today!

Ken B 3,189 #7 Posted October 7, 2013 From one brother to another all I can say is you are gonna love that tractor, and I have first dibs if you ever do sell it! Something tells me though that you will be holding onto this one. It looks to be in fantastic shape and was very well taken care of. My 417-8 has almost 2000 hrs on it and it is still wicked strong. I like the armstrong lift on yours, one less thing to go wrong...IMHO the 417-8 is the best worker Wheel Horse ever made, bar none. I can't wait to get up to your place to try that bad boy out. I should bring mine with me for a photo op....maybe even a little pull off, you know me, I won't be holding anything back.

JimmyZ 176 #17 Posted October 8, 2013 Thanks for all the comments. Next items on the list will be a snow blade, a snow blower and snow cab for the 417. I noticed the owners manual called for 5w-30 for winter running. I usually use 10w-30. What do you guys use for the KT series?
Wheel-N-It 2,976 #18 Posted October 8, 2013 Jimmy we don't have the cold Winter temps that you have here where I live. I run 30w year round. And I only use Lubrication Engineers motor oil. Hint Hint, you should too. They make 30w, and 5w-30w, 15w-40w, and pretty much anything else you need. I've been using LE since the late 90's. I even use it in my Harley.
