boovuc 1,090 #1 Posted October 1, 2013 After our big Trout Fry at camp this weekend, I had time to drop the loader and prep it for a sorely needed paint job. (Again.....a Wheelhorse advertisement that stated "on and off in 15 minutes" is purely BS)! I also made some labels at work. (On my break of course). They aren't reproductions of the original Ark Manufacturing Company but they do state the same things as any modern loader would in this CYA world we live in. Ther are three total all stating something different to be aware of. Speaking of decals, I may regret this later but I didn't remove or sand the area of the original WH decal across the front. I took a lot of time to save it and it did turn out OK. We'll see how it ages in the coming year(s). Besides being faded, I know I'll be using it this winter and it will see some salt so I wanted to try to keep it as nice as possible. The inside of the bucket won't be getting any paint at all. I may spray the bottom of the bucket black but again, it won't be on there for long.
JackC 617 #2 Posted October 1, 2013 Looks like new. Isn't their a brace that goes across the top above the steering wheel?

boovuc 1,090 #5 Posted October 1, 2013 Thanks. There is a brace that goes across the top. It was still in the garage hanging up. (You know you always have parts left over after a tear down). I have found that it is easier to line up the columns on the loader base without the crossover piece. I had the loader on and tight and started taking pictures when I remembered I never put it back on. I would guess it would be a very bad thing if I would have raised the bucket and started moving without it.

edwroy 138 #9 Posted October 2, 2013 A good looking paint job. I will be restoring an ARK 550. I am interested in how the loader mounts on the front of the 520. Could you snap a pic or two? Thanks, Edwroy

boovuc 1,090 #11 Posted October 2, 2013 I'll get a few pics after work on Wednesday, Edwroy. On the file attached of an Ark Loader parts blow up, you can see the bracket that mounts to the frame on the front. (#16, #17 & #36). It was a bit hairy to mount since it wasn't designed for use on a tractor with a forward swept axle assembly but it does go in there. Thanks again for the complements everyone.
