what paint to use

Recommended Posts

LFDRET

I am going to paint my 701 this winter. I have always used Valspar Restoration Series paint and added the hardener on my other tractors. TSC does not carry this paint any more and has replaced it with a diff. brand. Is there a paint out there that would be about the same as the Valspar. I have seen members talk about Van Sickle paint which has Alkyd Enamel & Acrylic Enamel. I do not know the Diff. between them. I was happy just using Valspar. So help me out.

I used to use valspar restoration paint as well until tractor supply got rid of it. I tried their new brand and I didn't like the results. My suggeation would be to use IH red from a case ih dealer. You won't be disappointed with the results.

Alkyd is oil-based. Acrylic can be anything from a latex to a urethane.

I painted my 701 with Acrylic Urethane from PPG. Color was Wheel Horse Red.
