IronDuke 4 #1 Posted September 29, 2013 Hey, i have been trying to restore my 66' lawn ranger but i have not been able to get any spark. Any ideas on what it could be?
sorekiwi 761 #2 Posted September 29, 2013 If it's the original Tecumseh the points, condenser and magneto are all behind the flywheel. I don't remember how you shut the thing off, there is probably a kill wire coming out from the same place to ground the mag and kill the spark. Check that first, if that wire is shorted to ground you will have no spark. If that doesn't fix it, pull the flywheel and have a look at the points etc.

My 704 was running erratic like the carb mixture was off. Turned out to be the kill wire was rubbed thru and it was vibrating and just touching the steering shaft.
