Tshaarda 0 #1 Posted September 22, 2013 (edited) I just bought this on Craigslist. I did get the engine running. However it is missing the governer linkage. Can anyone identify the engine and model. I am guessing suburban 400 or 550. What did the original "dash board" look like. The stem of the right rear wheel is rusted around and now a hole. Can that be fixed or do I need a new rim? I will try to attach photos. Edited September 22, 2013 by Tshaarda
Jake Kuhn 1,579 #2 Posted September 22, 2013 Looks like a suburban 550. The engine looks like a Tecumseh h60...may be the correct lauson, but is hard to tell. Where are you in Michigan? I am in south haven.
Tshaarda 0 #3 Posted September 22, 2013 Thanks for replying. I was out in the garage working on the tractor and giving the kids rides. I'm near Grand Rapids. I got the tractor out of Coopersville. The horizontal draft carb had me thrown off. The lauson Tecumseh manual I looked up had an updraft carb. The engine has no markings like how the kohler has "kohler" stamped into the metal. I do believe it is original based on the story from the seller. It came with the hobby farm he bought 18 years ago. The neighbor kids remember riding on it for years before that with the previous owner. Some things don't add up like it was running for the first year he had it then parked it years ago and wanted to redo it for his kids. Where did the throttle and choke linkage go? Not going to say I have never lost anything over 15 or more years.
