Lagersolut 743 #1 Posted September 17, 2013 (edited) I'm cruising Craig's list last Sunday and find a newly listed 314-8 in good shape advertised for $300 or best offer , the transmission is out of it - figured that would scare off 99% of the buyers I'm gonna let this unit sit a day or two and call see what the highest offer was ...figured I could get this unit for 150-200 .....can fix the trans 75-150 played it all wrong - Monday morning the Add was gone . I'm placing a formal complaint - there's too many Wheel horse wolves out there , it's gotta stop . Edited September 17, 2013 by Golds-Red

Lagersolut 743 #5 Posted September 18, 2013 Gotta be honest and in all seriousness , it really caught me off guard this unit went so fast , advertised with transmission problems - was sitting here Sunday morning ( right after it was posted ) debating whether to call now....wait a day or two blah blah ....figured that tranny problem ....it'll be in there for weeks I blew it . Just hope it goes to a good home and gets repaired not parted out.

Tankman 3,523 #7 Posted September 18, 2013 The seller took $75 for it, tranny was out and needed fixin'. Oh well, "He who hesitates is lost." Oh I don't really know! Just a chuckle. Better luck next time and keep your finger on the trigger!

leeave96 490 #9 Posted September 18, 2013 I know a guy that talks a BIG talk about buying a Wheelhorse. He will see an ad in Craigslist on Monday or Wednesday, tell me he's going to buy it and then wait to call until Friday night - thinking he'll just go get the tractor Saturday morning after a coffee. EVERY TIME the tractor is gone/sold - LOL!!! One time I found him a 414-8, with a newer 42 inch RD deck, front blade and clevis hitch for $500. Tractor was in great shape, garage kept and all sheet metal was straight. If I were interested in it, I would have taken a day of vacation and jumped on it - if that's what it took to close the deal. This guy wanted to wait until the weekend and like magic, the tractor was gone - LOL! Good luck on your next tractor find. Bill

Fordiesel69 271 #11 Posted September 18, 2013 On CL, JUMP on it, then negotiate on site. Never wait. I buy pinball machines and have lost a few good ones thinking the price would drop.

Lagersolut 743 #13 Posted September 18, 2013 (edited) Why did I write 314-8 - this getting old thing.... is for the birds - I gave some sweet potatoes away last week only to ask the wife this past Monday what I did with the rest of those potatoes I dug ...wife says you gave them to your mom when she was here last week...naturally I argued and said I don't remember doing that, so she called up to Moms and they both confirmed I'm going nuts . ( and I went up back and dug more potatoes ) Trouty is right , 414-8 with a RD deck . Edited September 18, 2013 by Golds-Red
Kelly 1,033 #14 Posted September 18, 2013 And any good WH guy knows the first thing to look at when there is a "Bad trans" is the hub keys, I've bought a few with a "bad trans" and all it was is a bad hub and key. You snooze you loose
