1973Auto 80 #1 Posted September 17, 2013 Minor question concerning inner tubes. My tire size is 23 x 8.5 x 12, want to add tubes to the tires, too many small leaks/cracks. Can't find the exact same size. If I get one close in size, will they still work properly??
rmaynard 16,299 #2 Posted September 17, 2013 What I have been told is that as long as the diameter is 12", the other dimensions can be bigger. A 23 x 10.50 x 12 will work fine in a 23 x 8.50 x 12 tire.
stevasaurus 23,281 #3 Posted September 17, 2013 Absolutely, a close size will work...as like Bob said...the diameter is right.

pacer 3,177 #5 Posted September 17, 2013 (edited) Smaller is better -- too many times when the tube is oversized there will be folds in the tube when aired and it doesnt take all that long for the fold to develop a leak --- as long as its a 12. Totally agree....in this case smaller is better....as long as it is for a 12" wheel. Edited September 17, 2013 by KC9KAS
