Convert Recycle Mower to rear discharge

Recommended Posts

robbkelly

Hi, i have a Mower Model 78355 recycle mower that I'd like to convert to a rear discharge.  I'm considering just cutting out the rear deck rings so it has and exit.  I hate to cut it up but Seattle area has a lot of wet grass!  if i get real ambitions i guess I could build something I could bolt back on.  Thoughts?

I believe that's the 42" recycler the baffles are held in by 4 bolts. I own the same deck and haven't looked back since I removed the baffles.

The baffles remove with 4 bolts.  Actually 2 bolts and 2 nuts if I recall.  You'll take the blades off, remove the fasteners for the baffle replace the bolts (they're part of the carriage assembly) put the blades on and you're all set!  You do NOT need to cut anything.

That is exactly what I did with my 42 inch deck.

I also bought a set of rear discharge blades. They throw the grass better than the recycler blades which are more flat.
