Forest Road 594 #1 Posted September 16, 2013 (edited) I was lucky enough to have some friends head upstate this weekend to lend a hand. I had a number of diseased balsam trees in need of removal. We rented a chipper and left the moving to my wheel horses. A couple of my friends laughed at the 522xi loader initially, there're accustomed to industrial equipment. At the end of the day they were all fans. Ironically my Mac Kissic chipper served as a great counterweight for the rental chipper.. I had more than enough help. Two of the guys were able to put the finishing touches on the horse house. 953 nut 60,114 #3 Posted September 16, 2013 That horse house looks like some of the mountain abodes you see on the back roads around here, but people live in them!
brandonozz 168 #4 Posted September 16, 2013 I like all the pictures - "Pretty" horse pictures, "ugly" horse pictures, attachments ....... but my favorites are the pictures of horses working! Thanks for sharing.
KC9KAS 4,744 #5 Posted September 16, 2013 Glad you had some help with your project. I really like the Coors addition on the loader! I like the "Silver Bullet" myself!
boovuc 1,090 #6 Posted September 16, 2013 The extra weight of the Xi series really helps that loader's ability to lift and retain traction. Nice setup. What invasive species are killing the Balsams? In the state next door to you, it's our Hemlocks and the Wooly Adelgid that is wreaking havoc on the fir trees.
Ken B 3,189 #7 Posted September 16, 2013 It looks as though you all had a great time! I love being outside this time of year doing wood and tractor related activities. Coors fan here also, but hey I'll drink just about any beer as long as its cold!
Tankman 3,523 #8 Posted September 16, 2013 Great pic's! Nice to see the Stallions at work! I think most think of "Joisey" sandy beaches, fishin' off the surf. Little do they know of the North "Joisey" beautiful landscape. Now, if you were in Patterson, might be another story.

Jeff-C175 7,206 #10 Posted September 16, 2013 Joisey has pretty much got all the landscape features... packed cities and congestion in the NE part, beautiful scenery, deciduous forest, and mountains in the NW part, beaches and burned boardwalks along the 'shore', pine forests in the S part... and I'm in the 'central' part and there are horses and chickens in my backyard. Forest Road 594 #11 Posted September 16, 2013 (edited) I'm happy to hear most of you enjoy Coors and the photos. The property is in the Central Adirondack park of NY. The trees are suffering from some sort of blight which forms a moss on the needles and scales all over the bark. Sections of bark fall off the trees and next thing you know there are 8' + tree tops on the roof next to my brand new skylites. So we dropped a lot if trees. White and scotch pines are unaffected as are the hardwoods. It's quite puzzling. Edited September 16, 2013 by Forest Road
shallowwatersailor 3,214 #12 Posted September 16, 2013 So that's what the indentation next to the shifter is used for.
Forest Road 594 #13 Posted September 17, 2013 I almost forgot to thank Kelly! He was kind enough to take some pics of the loader control valve on his Kwik way loader. And offer up instructions on adjusting the relief valve. We pulled the rear tires off the ground a couple times with some of the larger trees. The weekend wouldn't have gone nearly as well were it not for that tidbit.
