jonarch 0 #1 Posted September 14, 2013 I'm bringing a K91 back to life after 30 years under a porch. I've cleaned out the carburetor and installed a new float valve. I now have the engine so I can start it on the 2nd or 3rd pull which is nice. I've reset the jets to the initial settings per the manual. I cannot seem to get it to idle though. I have to partially choke it to keep it running, so suspect debris still in the carb. It either wants to quit or runs fast even if I back out the idle screw. If I advance the throttle it runs pretty well with choke off, but will falter and quit when I let the clutch out in gear or engage the mower. Maybe this is a governor adjustment needed. Perhaps I need to pull the carburetor and blow it down again. Anything I'm not seeing here? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

jonarch 0 #3 Posted September 15, 2013 I think I will. The choke plate was corroded open when I first got the tractor, so I'm sure theres varnish in there and everything else. I'm also putting a better in line fuel filter in. The first one I used was a plastic type with the screen. I'm switching to the paper element type. I'll post back. 953 nut 60,325 #4 Posted September 15, 2013 You can give the down and dirty method a try first. Get a can of Seafoam Carb Cleaner spray and remove the high and low speed needles, spray some in the openings and then adjust them as Martin said. Then take off the fuel line and float bowl, remove the float and needle and spray in both directions through the seat and fuel line. Put them back togather and give it another try. May also want to spray a few shots in the carb. while it is running. This method has worked wonders for me and I hope it will help you too. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
