installing plug wire into coil ?

Recommended Posts

how do you install the plug wire into this style of magneto? it looks like it has a 1/16" diameter rod that inserts into the core of the wire, as you push it in. do you need to add any sort of adhesive?

On old lawn mower engines that had the plug wire pull out, I would clean the hole as best as I could, then coat the part of the wire that goes into the hole with clear silicone caulk/glue, reinsert it, and let it cure over night.

I've used hot-glue in the past and it has seemed to hold up ok.

Save Old Iron

This may be of some help,

I would use epoxy to seal the wire. Most silicone products are permeable to oxygen.
