timo4352 147 #1 Posted September 7, 2013 (edited) I spent way too many hours today fiddling with my deck adjustments. It started when I could get the deck level front to back just fine in the #3 setting like the manual says. But when I'd try to set to the 4 or 5 setting the trunnion rod would bind up. So I went to the trunnion behind the gauge panel. After lots more fiddling it appears that maybe someone had replaced the chain in the past - the eybolt was not round and looked like it had been swished in a vice. Also the lower link to the lift arm was in the front hole and too close to the steering. The trunnion was in the middle hole. Now the pics I see show 4 links of chain, but after all this I ended up using three links an putting the trunnion in the forward-most hole of the lift arm as specified in the 300-400 series deck manual that I have. Got it all adjusted in then OK and I can use all my deck height settings without binding now. Can anyone confirm or deny what I've done here is right? I now there's lots of different chain sizes out there - is there an inside measurement of the link or number of the chain that's correct? I found this one pic here on the forum but I think it was for a C series - Is there another possibly that is correct for my 1985 310-8? This one sure didn't work for me. Maybe the wrong size chain? Thanks Tim Edited September 7, 2013 by timo4352
