Can someone near Richmond Va please help?

I started this thread about the electrical problems I am having with my 854 restoration:

I have put on a brand new replacement starter generator and wired it up according to the wiring diagram in the manual as before.  I am showing 12 Volts at the S/G, but it still won't turn over.  I would really appreciate some in person help with my Wheel Horse to get it running again.  Is there anyone near Richmond, Va who can help?  Is there a good repair shop in the area I can take the tractor to?  I would much rather get the 854 running myself with a little help from my friends.  :)

Thanks!

It looks like you have it wired properly but may have an internal short in the s/g.

If I were closer, I would be happy to help. There are a few electrical shops in Richmond and that may be your best bet to have it checked/tested.

Make some phone calls to find one that can test it for you.

Take the tractor wiring diagram with you. Just take the s/g off the tractor...no need to haul the whole tractor with you! Let us know what you find.

Could you send me a PM and tell me where in Central VA you live?  I might be able to bring the tractor to you.  Thanks!

i dont know if it would matter when starting or not, but dont those starter gens need polorized before using. my old farm king had one and it would do nothing after a rebuild untill polorized then it worked perfectly.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.  If the new S/G needs polarized, is there a procedure to do this?
