I'm looking at a  raider 10. it has a cigarette lighter. it appears to be a '73. it has the later style pto, but not a quick attach front mount.

my '73 8hp  didn't have a lighter, or my '74 b80.

just curious.

I have seen several later model than 1973  tractors where the owners took off the dash and made their own hole in it to place a cigarette lighter as an "Extra Accessory" !

thanks, that may be the case. I don't have any good pics right now, I'll try to get a better look at it this week.

My '73 14 Auto has a lighter.  My '74 B80 doesn't, but it may be because its a B (no frills) series.  My '76 C160 didn't have one either.

My 855 and 876 both have the lighters, must have been a lot of smokers back then.....I tell my kids years ago when growing up, we went to visit an Uncle in the hospital and patients were smoking right in the rooms! That is so hard for them to believe! They will sit and laugh like hell. They are 16 and 17 and never been without a seatbelt in their life, I Never wore one in my life until years after it became law and got pulled over for not having it on...still fought it for a while, now just feels natural....I still wish it were more my choice.

Only guessing but seems to me the lighters on early B series may been offered as options, maybe with the headlight option even since most without lighters I see had no headlights either. Weird thing is some B's with light options I see have a tail light and yet some didn't get one? Could this been dealer installed option and some buyers just cared about headlights idk? My B100-8 has both head/tail fwiw, being later model no lighter but I installed one.

The lighters factory hole in metal back plate was still there in dash but not in my plastic dash cover. Some actually have a hole with a plastic plug there, some have the lighter spiral circle symbol by lighter hole some do not. Hard to tell what was going on back then at WH.

I do remember when most all the Marlboro "Men" (was several) started getting lung cancer it made most everyone think twice about smokes, especially big corps and Marlboro's became known as "Cowboy Killers" overnight.

Easy to install lighter on most any WH, fuse it though so it don't burn up like Hodge71 states.

Not smoked in 20 yrs myself but I use mine for other things as others here, handy for mini air compressor for one.

They were pretty universal if yo ucan find (and that is hard) one from car if that vintage you can make it work  Some auto parts stores still had universal replacements..  a few years ago

Yes' universal fit if you locate one. War against cigs most mainstream stores don't even stock them I'll bet? Online EBay, Amazon or most parts stores still have them on shelf maybe or will order for sure. EBay's your best bet imho due to more choices/prices offered... Please Please please run that inline fuse between your lighter and the hot connection, lighters are just like a stereo it can overheat & burn the wires up without one. Very easy, very handy upgrade, take care!!

fwiw- Older cars in junk yards is another choice?  If you still have a you pull yard they sure make for some great memories too. I love hitting those old yards but sadly the good old rides I love are getting much harder to find in there now days. OMG I think I'm frick'n old?

“Gee, our old LaSalle ran great—those were the daaaays.”..lmao

You probably won't find an original easily so I recommend a boat store. They are good for outside as well as multi function light/lighter depending on where the switch is
