RJR49 138 #1 Posted August 29, 2013 I was going to try to invent something to actuate my spreader but it occurred to me that one of you guys had already done it I attach a spreader to the lawn vac mounted behind my tractor. Reaching behind to open and close is impossible without dismounting. I am thinking that a 12 Volt solenoid mounted near the spreader control lever would be the answer. Has anyone tried something like?
Tankman 3,523 #2 Posted August 29, 2013 I recently saw a setup, extended cable to activate a spreader. The cable, like a pull throttle or choke, long enough to clamp perhaps next to the drivers seat. The poster had a pic or two of the setup. After using the spreader, he simply coiled the cable leaving it with the detached spreader. Would work for me 'cause I only spread occasionally. RJR49 138 #3 Posted August 29, 2013 That's a thought though a long loose cable seems like it would take a pretty long through
Tankman 3,523 #4 Posted August 29, 2013 I just put a Trac Vac on a friends GT. Yes, the cable would be like "forever" long. The vac unit itself is long and add your spreader, like a short train. I still think worth a try.
