tomtractor 71 #1 Posted August 22, 2013 My kohler k321 is making strange sounds while running. The motor's rpm's increase and decrease while running. Also the throttle never seams to get very high. A little smoke comes out the muffler when the motor reaches it's high rpm stage. The tractor has sat for a while. I believe the carb. needs rebuilding and tuning. The carb. is running to rich. Does this sound right or is it signs of larger problems? The motor is from the 1970's. Thanks for any info.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,518 #2 Posted August 22, 2013 Remove the air cleaner and make sure the choke plate is fully opened when the choke control is in the off position. Then make sure to is fully closed when the choke control is all the way on. Repositioning the cable housing in it's clamp is required to correct it. Rock farmer 41 #3 Posted August 22, 2013 You may a weak and intermittent spark. Check your ignition system. I just got a tractor doing the same thing. The wire to the condenser was broken! Joe
tomtractor 71 #4 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) I am assuming from your answer that the carb. is where the problem is. Adjustments and a cleaning will probably fix the problem? I will also check the condenser wire. Edited August 22, 2013 by tomtractor
