418A org 18 HP changed to 12HPM

I bought a 418A , motor in a box missing crank and rods, so I have a 12hpmag that I would like to install' If I connect the 3 of the wires that go to the dc acc, mag coil from the 418 will they start the motor, The two oil sending wire that come from the engine are caped up due to oil sw missing. Wiring diagram for the 418 show wh , drk bl , Lt blue for the starter sol. Wires that come from the mag are wh, tan, ble, two red oil sw. Hope this makes sense.

The 418-A originally used a 15 amp stator with regulator M18QS-24510.

What stator is in the M12? Is there a spec number on the engine?

The 1987 312-A model 21-12KE03 used the 471527 spec number with a 15 amp stator. This operator manual has the wiring diagram for it

The 418-A is also a 1987 model with 15 amp stator so the swap should be easy.
