What mower do I have?

Recommended Posts

sebringwh

I just became a WH person last week.I have looked for some clue as what mower this is, but I'm not familar  enough with them to know what I'm looking for. It is on a 416-8 and works well, but I need to know what

it is for any manuals I will need.

Thanks.

Here are the possible model numbers from 1976 up

65-48MS01, 65-48MS02, 75-48MS01, 75-48MS02, 85-48MS01, 95-48MS00, 95-48MS01, 05-48MS01, 05-48MS02, 05-48MS03, 05-48MS04, 05-48MS05, 05-48SC01, 15-48SC01, 15-48SC02, 15-48SC03, 78360, 78361

The biggest differences are in the spindle bearings.

The hole in the blade will narrow the possibilities down at bit. Let us know what it is.

What's that round thingy on the right side of the deck, partially under the footrest of the machine?

Can probably narrow the 'vintage' down some if we had the numbers off the tractor dataplate and presumed that the deck was original to the machine.

Garry and Jeffpicks,

Thanks for the replys.

The hole in the blade is 3/4".

The engine is a 16hp Kohler, K341S,  spec# 71381

Engine sn  1522412164

No other data visible.

The deflector/shield has been removed from the discharge and the Seller said the round thing is a counter balance to

compensate for the weight of the deflector shield removed.. I just took his word for it.

Thanks again, hope this info helps narrow it down.

Tim

Is there no plate on the surface below the dashboard on the hood stand?

Ummmm....  meadow muffins I say.  If the deck doesn't sit level, there's something else wrong.  A worn linkage or a misadjustment.

And by all means, find and install a deflector shield, ESPECIALLY if there are houses and neighbors within 100 feet of your lawn.  I know the other guys here don't all use the deflectors, partly because they will tend to cause 'windrows' of grass clumps... but trust me that without the deflector that deck is more than capable of throwing good size rocks at least 300', and I've had to repair the windows and holes in vinyl siding to prove it.  Luckily there are no deceased neighbors or pets in the mix.

You have a 1986 416-8 model number 31-16K802.

Kohler made serial 1522412164 in 1985.

These decks used blades with 3/4" hole and are posted oldest to newest.

75-48MS02, 85-48MS01, 95-48MS00, 95-48MS01, 05-48MS01, 05-48MS02, 05-48MS03, 05-48MS04, 05-48MS05, 05-48SC01, 15-48SC01, 15-48SC02, 15-48SC03, 78360, 78361

The 1986-87 deck was 05-48MS05. Not uncommon to see a deck a year older or newer sold at the time of the tractor sale.

MANY  thanks again. This is the info I was looking for.

There is no data plate on the dash board.

It looks like it has been well used, but not severly abused.

The deflector was included and I will look into re-installing it..
