Gas tank valve

Recommended Posts

fishingstararlake

I have a 520 that started to surge at low rpm. It runs every two to three days for the last 12 years.

So I looked at the fuel filter (clear) seamed low on gas turned the gas valve off and on. Filter filled up and runs fine now.

Had to do this last year also.

Any body seen this? Does that just screw out to replace?

thanks

Dan

Ya might remove the tank valve and see if debris/scale in it. Not certain if yours does but most have a screen on valve above inlet that will plug before gets totally into body, but without screen flow may get "plugged". Usually the valve is friction fit into a grommet on the poly tanks and screwed into metal tanks.

You could try lightly air blow back through into tank, cap off , but prob would happen again sooner or later.

I've had the screen on valve plug on several with steel tanks, rust/debris and some sorta rusty lookin scum on a poly one. With a sediment bowl down flow I just removed screen, cleaned tank, and now and then get sediment to dump from bowl and clean sediment bowl screen.
