6wheeler 669 #1 Posted August 15, 2013 The fuel pump on my C-165 had enough and up and quit on me. I have been reading a few threads on this but couldn't find what I was looking for. NAPA has a couple of options. What I am wondering? What would be the fuel pressure I should use? They seem to go from about 1.5 psi up to around 15 psi. The lower end pumps don't require any relays and hook to the ignition side for constant power. Any thoughts on this? The difference in price vs. a mechanical is about 35 bucks. $55 elec. vs. $94 mech.(/aftermarket Kohler replacement) . Thanks in advance for the input. 546cowboy 302 #2 Posted August 15, 2013 The pumps I have seen are not rated by P.S.I. they are rated by gallons per minute. That makes a big difference. The ones I have commonly seen in auto parts stores were Mr Gasket pumps. I have had two 520's with the electric pumps on them. They worked fine on the Onans and were great when it had been sitting awhile because you didn't have to crank for an eternity to get fuel to the carb. Just make sure it is only on when the key is on. Since the pressure is low on these engines I would use the 1.5 g.p.m. They do not have a regulator so they will run continuously as long as power is applied. SousaKerry 503 #3 Posted August 15, 2013 I think the one I have is the lowest pressure rated one they have. 3-5 I think. The needle floats in these carbs can not take much pressure as it is only a small simple float that holds them shut.
squonk 43,852 #4 Posted August 15, 2013 Napa 610-1051 is the one you want.
SousaKerry 503 #5 Posted August 15, 2013 Yeah that looks like although I think the same pump is sold under about 10 different names depending on the particular parts store
Marv 982 #6 Posted August 16, 2013 I use the Facet model FEP04SV by Purolator. It is a 1.5-4 PSI pump. I have them on my C145, C111 and just installed one on my D200. Marvin
6wheeler 669 #7 Posted August 16, 2013 Thanks Guys for the input. Mike, that one doesn't require any relays correct?
squonk 43,852 #8 Posted August 16, 2013 It doesn't require a relay but I put one on it because I prefer it that way.
