Parrothead Al 17 #1 Posted August 14, 2013 I picked up another WH, C120 looks like a 1976. It came with a rear discharge deck (Needs work). It runs but smokes. Former owner removed the governor linkage and ignition switch. K301 engine. How bad are these to rebuild?
SousaKerry 503 #2 Posted August 14, 2013 K301 rebuilds are pretty basic just leave out the grenade gears and you'll be fine
Dieselcowboy 210 #3 Posted August 15, 2013 Get a Kohler engine book. It will guide you front to back on these engines. As long as you can read and follow directions your good to go with the book.
Austin860 82 #4 Posted August 15, 2013 I'd make sure you get the governed back in there

Parrothead Al 17 #6 Posted August 15, 2013 I'd make sure you get the governed back in there I did replace the governor linkage and all is well, I'm not sure why anyone would remove the linkage, however the throttle linkage was also missing and the holes were used to mount the coil. The throttle was then controlled by a rubber band tied off to the plug wire. I would assume this probably help the engine self destruct the way it has .
