Recommended Posts

Got some brake shoes from member quite awhile ago. Just now today got them on. I mentioned a guard above the brakes that looked stock, yet no one here had heard of them. SO took pix of what was on mine, made by PO or stock??

Are they there to prevent rocks from dropping between the shoes and rotors?

The guard thing sure looks stock, but let's not discount the ingenuity/craftsmanship of some of the enthusiasts.

I guess the only purpose would be to keep debris out of the pads.  Any other ideas?

I have checked my Turning Brakes manual/parts list it does not show or list any part #'s for a guard or bolts to fasten it to the Secondary Bracket, however; the two holes in the top of the Secondary Bracket must have been there for a purpose, if I am not mistaken the Cub Cadet turning brake system utilized this same Secondary Bracket on their turning brake system.
