Butch 194 #31 Posted August 16, 2013 Just got done using my C-85 with the new seat from TSC. Wow, what a difference. Never realized how hard the other one was until I sat on this. I used the arm rests. I was either leaning one way or the other on the arm rests. The seat was so comfortable I was starting to doze off! The head would nod and then I'd jerk it up. Ebay has seats similiar to this for $50 less. But I bought this based on recommendations and if I had a problem I could always take it back. My C-175 doesn't get as much use as the C-85 so I don't know if I'd get one for it or not. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Racinbob 11,946 #32 Posted August 16, 2013 OK, folks, you made me go out in this heat to verify what I did. I suffer from chronic CRS. I initially installed the seat with the slider assembly still on it. You can see the lever in the picture I posted. I decided to take it off mostly because I didn't need it and it also put the seat a bit lower and closer to the original. I did have to drill new holes in the tilt pan. Again, I've never cared for armrests on a tractor because they bother me as I'm steering. Being a new seat it was a clean removal and no paint was damaged under the pivit area. The only negative is the seat back that tilts forward. It usually tries to fall forward when I raise the seat to fuel up. It's a minor issue though and it hasn't bothered me enough to pin it back. One of the problems when I first installed the seat with the sliders still on it was the height as I mentioned. It was aggravated by the large Toro steering wheel. I have since installed a smaller wheel with the Wheel Horse logo. But I still felt the seat was too high even though I'm 5'11". So off with the slider. Racinbob 11,946 #36 Posted August 17, 2013 It was pretty easy. I may have been lucky that the old one came off easy. I've heard that some are a real bear to get off. I just drove out the pin, turned the wheel all the way in one direction and it slipped on the shaft. then it was free to pull right off. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Butch 194 #37 Posted August 17, 2013 An easy steering wheel to remove? That's a first. The steering wheel doesn't bother me but the shift lever doesn't have that easy access it had with the factory seat. You kinda have to reach down and back. If you flip those seat springs over you don't have to drill any holes. The holes in those springs are different lengths. When you flip them over the new hole location will match up with the new seat and the different hole location will still line up with the bottom lift plate. You do sit higher but I like it. Like I said before you don't realize how uncomfortable the factory seat is until you buy one of these babies. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Racinbob 11,946 #38 Posted August 17, 2013 Yes Butch, it probably is a first. I given up on some of them. That sounds odd about reaching the shifter. Your seat must be further forward than mine. I don't have the springs I think you're talking about. You're talking the flat U shaped springs about 12-14" long? I have the two coil springs on the back of the pan that flips forward. Butch 194 #39 Posted August 17, 2013 Yeah Bob I do have the U-shaped springs. I think I have the seat a little more forward than normal to compensate for it's height so I can reach the brake. I'm guessing I moved it forward to better reach the pedals too. That could have also put it too close to the 15" steering wheel that was on mine. The Wheel Horse wheel is 13".
