608KEB 796 #1 Posted August 6, 2013 How do I check the oil level in a 520H? Cold or hot?
Red-Bovine 334 #2 Posted August 6, 2013 I always check oil when cold and it has drained completely into the crankcase. Red
boovuc 1,090 #3 Posted August 7, 2013 Cold! And level! Make sure you snug the oil cap a little then check it. (Manual).
Kelly 1,033 #4 Posted August 8, 2013 My Onans, everyone of them, when checking the oil, cold before starting them, are ALWAYS way over full, wipe the stick off and recheck, they read correct, must be the oil gets pushed up the tube and the cap seals tight and holds the oil up till the cap/dipstick is removed.

Same here! Pull the dipstick, wipe it off, then check the level.
Red-Bovine 334 #6 Posted August 9, 2013 Yup!!! Forgot to mention that. Wipe the stick and recheck cold after having sat a while to let oil drain into crankcase. Red
boovuc 1,090 #7 Posted August 10, 2013 I have so much oil on my dipstick when checking cold on the first whip that I keep thinking I should pull it down back into the crankcase! I never thought about how many people might interpret an over-filled engine if they don't whip the stick initially.
