GT 14 resto satin red

Recommended Posts

So I am not a big fan of restored tractors. I like the patina they get over the years but my GT has a couple of pieces that are really bothering me. At some point a battery must have leaked acid so there is a few places where you can see the acid ran down the side covers. I am thinking of having them powder coated a similar red in satin to try and get them to blend. Thoughts? Maybe rub them in the dirt a bit after painted? Best pic I have at the moment. 20130504_123847.jpg

In my area of Ohio there is a automotive paint supplier that can color match, and even put it in a spray bomb for you. IIRC they cost about $40 to have a can made up. I'd take the part down there, let them color match it, tell them what you're trying to duplicate, and let thiem mix it up. A flattening agent in the paint will help make it look "patina-ed" or sun faded like.

You prob have a similar store in your area.

Worth a try - good luck.

Tim
