rwilson 128 #1 Posted August 2, 2013 What would some of you pay for a mid 70's c160 auto with a nice 48" deck? It has some engine problems!! The piston does not go up and down anymore.
leeave96 490 #2 Posted August 2, 2013 Not much. If the piston don't move, there's likely a broken rod and an engine rebuild is in order. Good luck, Bill
546cowboy 302 #3 Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) It would depend on the condition of the rest of the tractor but a nice deck should be worth $200 in my area. I would also ask the PO just what happened when the engine let go, like did the rpm's skyrocket before it let go? Was the engine oil up to the proper level? It will still be a rebuild and you could be looking at another engine if it broke the cylinder wall at the bottom. I probably wouldn't go much over the $200 though. rwilson 128 #4 Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) It cam into work and I pulled the dipstick and the oil was low so i'm thinking that the crank is probably got some rod deposits on it. the rest of the tractor isn't in too bad of shape. not rusty, or dented up it is pretty straight. Wheel-N-It 2,976 #5 Posted August 3, 2013 $200, and thats it UNLESS the tractor is in exceptional condition othrwise. Then I may go $300 but no more!
