kohler k241 piston stamp

Took my head off for the frist time and the piston has no numbers on to say what the bore is but has A stamped on it what does this mean?

The K241 engine for some reason is the only K series the not have a style D piston avail.  You have a style A piston which means it can go in either direction.  Style C, and D pistions on K181, K301, K321, K341 must go in one direction.  Some have an arrow, and some have the word FLY on it.

 

If you have no size stamped in it, consider yourself lucky, your bore is STD and you can usually bore it 6 time.  That is of course if you have the K301 block with the thick cylinder wall.
