Stepney 2,352 #1 Posted July 30, 2013 Hello all, I added another horse to the stable! It's a restored 856, and it sure looks good, but it needs some mechanical work... So, as for the electrical. When I first got it, it nearly left me stranded a few times, being it turned over worse then a 6 volt half dead in the middle of winter with molasses in the engine... If you know what I mean. At that time the generator lamp had a bad bulb. A quick charge fixed this, and at that time the voltage was 9.6 without anything on or running. Now, I got a new #53 bulb, and now it does light up... But I am not understanding the functions... I turn the key on, nothing happens, turn on the cigarette lighter, nothing. Hit the starter and it goes on bright, now it starts, and the lamp nearly goes out, this is at idle. As I increase speed, it gets brighter!? I thought the idea was that it stayed OUT at high speed, and came on when the system dropped below 12V??? I read a thread here about it once, but can't find it now... Am I missing something here, or is this how it's supposed to work? Thanks, Spenser.
