papaglide 542 #1 Posted July 23, 2013 I may be trading my IHCC 1200 for a nice condition C-160-8 but before I fully commit I must ask a few questions: 1. This tractor would be taking the place of my 416-8. Could I put a 416 style seat and seat pan on it? (My 416 IS the most comfortable tractor that I have ever drove!) 2. Being older, could it stand up to the rigors of being an "only tractor" ? Plowing a garden, cultivating, snow plowing, cutting 2 acres of grass every 4 days during the summer? 3. Are there ANY downsides to having a C-160? I kind of think that the answers to my first 2 questions are a resounding "yes" but I just need to be convinced by others with more knowledge than me! Thanks.
Hodge71 665 #2 Posted July 24, 2013 (edited) Anything you can do with that 416 you can do with a C-160-8 plus the tractor is a lot sexier doing it. I love the blocky shape of the 70's C-series, so much so I just bought a 1974 C-160 8 speed. I believe my 1996 416 Hydro is either going to get sold or it will become by de-thatching machine and get run twice a year. I just don't trust that Onan. I'm definitely in love with my 160. Wish I could have gotten a 1973 16 Auto as its my favorite year. This '74 will fill my need though. I doubt you will be able to hurt that 160 in any way. No downsides whatsoever! js5020 111 #3 Posted July 24, 2013 I was kinda wondering something similar, I recently picked up a non running 16 Auto. Never had a WH before and I dont understand the differences the models,,not to hijack the thread but,,,, whats the difference between the C,D, 300,400,500 series? papaglide 542 #4 Posted July 24, 2013 Hodge, I feel for you regarding the Onan. My Onan in the 416 is the main reason for the recent spike in gas prices.....she's burning so much oil that its effecting the supply!
