magnum 8 knock

Recommended Posts

slammer302

Just bought a 308-8 the guy i bought it from said it was using sum oil so he had a new rod and piston put in it when they started it up it had a knock in it so they turned it off and never messed with it again. I took the oil pan off and took a look every thing looks right except were the rod connects to the crank looks like it has alot of side to side play would this make noise when running?

Short answer...something is not right! Tear it back down and fix it or be prepared for a ventilated block.

I have a Kohler 301 that is a knocker, it broke a rod a few years back and I just slapped another piston and rod in it at the time cause I needed it,, it was obvious that it needed bored so I think its piston slap causing the knock. Check the bore size.
