BretzFamily 1 #1 Posted July 21, 2013 I recently became a Wheel Horse owner. I don't have a manual per say and never owned or worked on something such a brute. I have a couple question and i hope this is the appropiate place. First off I have a bracket hanging from the lift for the deck and a steel cable with almost same bracket then at the end saof the wire same bracket as front what is that used for? Second my horse still had original belts with part numbers is there a place online where its actually able to get these belts. I also while mowing threw a bearing in the v pulley on the front belt adjuster can i get aftermarket 3/4 pulley . Third. what attachments can my 417 take and what oil should i use in the engine and in transaxle also standard grease fine in all fittings and what maintenance will keep my horse chugging. I appreciate all responses.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,499 #2 Posted July 22, 2013 Your tractor's long model number should be 31-17KE01. Enter it here https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro On the right is a link to the attachment list. For the mower deck idler look at the mower parts lists for the original number. One is flat and the other a V-pulley. Napa may have a replacement so post what you need and will check. The cable sounds like the one for the rear attachment lift required for a tiller. Look at the tiller parts list. The lift linkage illustration in the tractor parts list shows what goes where for what. Garry
boovuc 1,090 #3 Posted July 22, 2013 If you can snap a picture of the bracket and steel wire under the tractor, that would help immensely. In our files section, you'll find a belt guide that will help you out. Many of the original belt numbers have new numbers and they are readily available. The pulley on your mule drive is replaceable but it would be just plan easier and maybe cheaper to place an add looking for the pulley and again, take a picture so our member/vendors know which pulley went south on you. Your 417 will take each and every attachment made for C-Series, 300, 400 and 500 series tractors. Like all the mower decks, plows, grader, tiller, loader, etc. Your KT17 engine should take a straight 30 weight for the summer and I use a 10w-30 for winter work. You will need to check the fluid in your hydro unit to see if the prior owner used ATF or 10w-30 oil. Standard grease from a grease gun is applicable to all the grease fittings. You'll find an owners manual in the file/manual section as well that answers all your questions. Good Luck with your machine!
BretzFamily 1 #4 Posted July 22, 2013 Awesome ill go look to ser what's what that makes it easier on all us. Also i included pictures asked for. In the transaxle it smells like sae and looks it don't know what weight it could be. I live in coastal carolina so i would want to stay with a 10w40 year round? Ok file was to large to show othet end of cable. I also tried to show flat pulley but file to large also so i only got the busted v pulley mowed grass i guess to long for a tractor sittimg for 15years. it started smok. and squealed to a hault i would replace both just to be safe
