Kelly 1,033 #1 Posted July 17, 2013 I'm pretty good at wiring but I don't want to screw anything up on my Diesel 195 project, parts for the diesel can take a while to get, the engine has a charging system on it with a reg. and a loose wire, that wire is for charging the batt. I'm not 100% sure where the best place to tie it in would be? I have a aftermarket ign. switch I thought about hooking it to the acc. terminal on that with a 20 amp fuse inline, (I have not checked the true output on the wire yet, my amp meter was in the barn and it has been so hot I did not feel like walking out there, but with a test light it does get brighter as RPMs go up) I'm just not sure where the best place is to hook it, so I don't have back feed or a draw with the key off, other idea was direct to the batt. but I really don't like that idea. Jeff-C175 7,206 #2 Posted July 17, 2013 Is the aftermarket ign switch a 'replacement' for the WH one? Same pinouts, or different? Typically with the original switches, there is a terminal on the ign switch for the regulator output, and that is disconnected when machine is off... No, definitely not direct to the battery, even if it is fused.
Don1977 604 #3 Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) The wire from the regulator to the R terminal on the switch. The charge wire to the battery runs from the B terminal through the Amp Meter to the battery side of the solenoid switch. Kelly 1,033 #4 Posted July 18, 2013 It's not a GT style switch, it is a cut key style from TSC it has going from memory, power in, start, acc, and ign. they are post style terminals with nuts.
Jeff-C175 7,206 #5 Posted July 18, 2013 I think given the choices that the ACC is going to be your best choice.
JC 1965 1,532 #6 Posted July 18, 2013 Kelly, I think you should PM Chuck ( Save Old Iron) You don't want to fry anything in the electrical system.
