Was looking on Ebay today and just had to share this! Just wondering if anyone saw the used (with surface rust) 520H Exhaust Muffler and Shield that was listed on Ebay today?? The seller has a starting bid of $300 (Yes, $300) on it and on top of that, he wants another $25 to ship it! Man, if I paid $300 for a used tractor exhaust, I'd at least hope I could get free shipping with it!!!!!        I am hoping that the seller made a mistake with his starting bid, cause if he really thinks that a used exhaust is worth a total of $325, our hobby is getting wayyyyy to expensive!!! LOL!

Prices on his chrome hubcaps aren't TERRIBLY out of line... I say it's gotta be a typo... he meant THIRTY!

 

I think $500 for this RJ is a bit high too, no?

the only thing i can say is i have tried to sell and bunch of stuff and i keep lowering the price once i jump it up it sells dont know why i sold a 416-8 about 3 years ago with a 42 inch deck started at 700 went to 500  over time still no buyers jumped it up to 1000 and had it sold in 5 hours for 900 made me shake me head

I agree. He must have meant thirty. There is just no other way to explain that price. That Surburban is for sure not worth $500. It is in pretty rough condition. I did not think his hub caps where too out of line either.

Here's how the seller explained it to me after I asked:

 

 

well that exhaust alone lists out at $600 and the shield is $150 so i think 300 is a fair price but thanks for looking

 

And sure enough, I looked up a 116471 muffler...  RCPW has them for about $550 and they are about the lowest price.

Jeffpicks is correct. The price of a new one was real high. The seller probably not a collector but smart enough to look up what one is new. He figures list it for about 50% of the value new and take offers.... There is an azz for every seat....

And it's really not in that bad a shape from what we can see in the pics... so maybe it's got half it's life left?  Pro-rated value... ha!

 

Still, if anyone pays three bills for that, they're nutz, I'm CERTAIN a good used one can be had for WAY less!

Wow, I did not realize that those things cost $550 new! The most I have ever seen a used one go for on Ebay was $150, so I still think he is a little out of line... But hey, ya never know.    There might be someone out there willing to pay that for it, but it sure ain't gonna be me!

I just looked this muffler up on parts tree and just about had a heart attack after looking at what the parts cost new!    They want $104 for the shield, $62 for the exhaust cover, and $678 for the muffler itself (Don't think shipping is included in those prices)! And that does not included screws, pipes, exhaust gaskets, etc.! Yikes, what is this world coming too?????? I guess our friend on Ebay might not be too stupid after all!    I guess I should rename this thread "Some people are just plain smart!"!
