Anti Skid foot rests. Replacement????

In the 1970's and 1980;s the foot rests had a black textured coating or decal that prevents foot slip.  The newer ones have gone over to rubber. 

 

What are you guys using to replace this black textured stuff?

skateboard grip tape...

I have tried the bedliner and have found that the skateboard tape is the best option. I just bought some off Ebay that will last for my lifetime. I had a place close to me but they went out of business.

I was looking for skateboard tape also but was in Harbor Freight over the weekend and found that they had a 12" x 12" adhesive backed rubber treadplate for $ 2.25 so I cut it in half , cleaned the footrests real good, and it seems to have stuck down really well.
