fjdc100 8 #1 Posted July 8, 2013 Hope I can get some help, WheelHorse C-100 model 10390, I purchased a belt from John Deere Dealer for PTO to Stage that they looked up and said it was a replacement. When I go to install it I cannot get it over the pulleys unless I decided to force it, which I do not want to do unless it is the right belt. The John Deere Belt number is M41960. I have cranked the knob that tightens the belt all the way so that the pulley assy is as loose as it can be. Hope someone can tell me if this is the correct belt and what the dimensions should be. Thanks
daveoman1966 3,841 #2 Posted July 8, 2013 John Deere belt M41960 is 102.3" long 1/2"wide. The wheelhorse belt you want is probably #102742 and it is 103.25" long x 1/2" wide. You have the wrong belt. The JD belt is not made to precisely fit the V shape of the wheelhorse pulley and will ride lower or higher...effectively altering the 'working length' of the belt. What is more, if the belt doesn't fit the V precisely, the belt will quickly begin to 'roll' in the V pulley and quickly wear out or otherwise go south on you. Making more tension on the belt only accelerates the demise of said belt. Wheelhorse belt 102742 is the PTO to deck belt on MOST tractor / deck combinations. The C-100 probably has either a 36 or 42" deck and the belt 102742 would be right for either. You can size up belt dimensions from various Mfg at this website: http://outdoorpowerinfo.com/belts/Default.asp?search_requested=submit#result
fjdc100 8 #3 Posted July 9, 2013 Thanks for your advice, I am glad I did not install the belt, I can take it back, hopefully if they cannot supply the belt I will get a credit refund on my card. Is there a company or web site you would recommend to buy the belt from?
daveoman1966 3,841 #4 Posted July 9, 2013 Any Toro dealer would stock this belt. The number is changed up to 94-2501 and PartsTree.com has them for $33 bux or so.
