What would you do? With some questions.

I don't know if he will do it but worth a shot, he is an awesome engine builder, he did my aluminum headed 468 I had years ago....he does very high dollar stuff!!! Anyways, it's Ellison's Machine Shop in Glenn Burnie, his name is Kenny. He is just off the Baltimore beltway, can't remember what road. If he can't/don't want to do it, he should know someone that would.

all you need to take off like said above is the engine tin,intake, muffler,heads, wiring starter, and fly wheel. i also took the stater and trigger off before taking it to the shop. just a word of warning, my cousin took an onan to a shop that did a lot of aluminum auto heads and they charged almost $ 200.00 and double stacked to valve seats in the block. now we don't know what to do because we are afraid it wont hold up and the shop said it would work and didn't want to here any more about it, then got flooded out in a heavy rain and out of business now. so i guess just make sure they know what they are doing before you plunk good money down.

Thank you for the links. I had found that and read that already. I had not found that parts place. I have decided that if I have to tear it completely down I will most likely part it.

I did. I actually went with a kit that I purchased on Ebay. I thought the valves might need to be adjusted so I decided to go ahead and decarbon since you have to pull both manifolds to adjust the valves. That is how I found the bad seat. I will take it next week in the state that it is in and see what they tell me. Then I will decide which direction to take the tractor.

Thank you for the information. He is about 1.5 hrs from me with no traffic. Not close but not too far either. He says on his website that he would do smaller jobs. It is good to know the different ones around. I have been wanting to find a machine shop since I moved here. I will see what the Fairfax Napa machine shop has to tell me first.

I used to live in Fairfax and being a car guy, I couldn't find much. Look down south little bit too, more yards and more rural than your area, might have some small engine places.....He is really an hour away?? Everything is distant down there....
