RickJ 2 #1 Posted June 30, 2013 I'm new to the forum; I have purchased a complete, but long neglected, 1968 Commando 8, model 1-4831 (I think). I can't find any information where the ID plate/sticker is supposed to be located on the tractor. It has an 8HP Kohler engine; spark plug on the top; looks complete, and the cigar lighter is still there on the dash. Lots of information in this forum! I wish I had more time to read more of the posts before I went to the big rendezvous last week ... What a show!

rmaynard 16,301 #3 Posted June 30, 2013 Glad to have you aboard. You are correct about the show. It was fantastic this year. The ID tag on your Commando should be on the dash tower, directly under the dash housing.
RickJ 2 #4 Posted July 1, 2013 Thanks for the help! Even though most of the decals are readable on the tractor, there isn't one on the dash tower. However, after looking at the manuals suggested, I'm pretty sure it's a model 1-4831, and now I'm a little more comfortable scrounging for parts knowing what I have. Hope you both have a great Independence Day!

RickJ 2 #6 Posted July 1, 2013 Thanks so much for the great photo! I went outside again this morning and looked under the dash, and there it was ... I feel so stupid! If I had taken the time to bend over and look at the whole panel I would have seen it! Once it stops RAINING (again), I'll get out there with my flashlight and confirm the model number and copy the serial number to my project book.
