glgrumpy 35 #1 Posted June 24, 2013 Haven't been here for awhile, have to catch up! Got my new D-18 auto home now and looking stuff over on it. It has the optional turning brakes. They go way down, produce no "STOP"at all. I was looking at adjust, but seems should get wheels off for better work and seeing it. I'm thinking the pads are Non-existant really and no adjust is gonna work. Are these pads still available? Maybe they are aftermarket brand and have to go to Manufacturer site?? I have brake shop near by, but haven't asked yet if they can cut pads and glue on my metal. Zat what most you guys have done??
wheeledhorseman 579 #2 Posted June 24, 2013 You might get lucky and find some NOS but relining isn't that difficult. It's what I did when restoring my D-200. The relining bit is just over half way down this page The pads on mine had been replaced once before so the ones I made aren't actually to the OEM shape. If there's a bit of pad left on yours then you could do an exact match. Hope this helps you. Andy
glgrumpy 35 #3 Posted June 26, 2013 SAw your posting now, and yes, some on mine and are curved shape. I can't find any spec for thickness to tell shop guy that I want. How thick was your lining then? Can't be much, not much room on the bracket to hold very think, it looks to me. Mine also had some flat heavy flat metal "guards" maybe over the brakes and towards the middle of tractor. they bolted to the top of the pad caliper. I don't see those in the parts break-down in manuals. the holes in caliper are shown, but no metal over them or in picture. This some PO's add-on?? They are very thick, like 3/16" or so and have end on caliper bent at an angle to make the guard angle up. Not sure I'm gonna put back on or not.

"D"- Man 827 #7 Posted June 26, 2013 I was, as Andy mentioned, "fortunate enough to find some N.O.S. pads." If I can I will try to get a measurement and post, Mark.
glgrumpy 35 #8 Posted June 26, 2013 Guy's have some coming now, thanks. Will have to look at brakes links from above, just to see what they are about. The Cub Cadet ones that look the same, maybe same brand or from 107, 127 and 147 models Hydro. Mounts a little diff, but the calipers and pads sure look the same.
