Recommended Posts

A while ago there was a website that had the rebuild kits.  Could someone point me in the right direction.

I think it was "maritime" something or other.

Hope you have better luck with the Kits than I had.

Hi Richard,  what was the trouble you had with them?  I was thinking of ordering a kit for the spares cabinet... but maybe not!

Yes, please elaborate.........

When mine gets hot, it does not mechanically move enough.  I can demount and manually depress it, and it works well.  But once reinstalled does not stroke far enough to deliver fuel.  As soon as it cools down, it resumes working again.

I hope the kit solves this problem.

I know this is't the right thing to do but had the same problem. Rebuilt the pump worked fine in my had but not on tractor. Pulled it off put it in the vise bent the arm just a little has worked fine since. I assume some ware on cam and arm as it is a 68.

Gents, Firstly, I am not in any way saying don't get a Kit. It is not for me to use this, or any Forum to 'Bad Mouth' a product that we may be dependant on to keep these running. I therefore agree with Smitty's reservations about it, as others may have not had a problem?..

My situation is also different to yourselves in the U.S.

Secondly , here is a link to my post (#170) in the Euro Section which partly covered it and the alternative I had resort to-

For me (the consumer), 3500miles of water is a pretty good isolator for someone having to deal with possibly returned wrong or unsatisfactory goods, it also costs me/us a small fortune to receive and return them. For you guys, it's easier and cheaper and your much more likely to get a reply?.

The Diaphragm parts I received were larger in virtually Every dimension and for example, the Rod that fits into the lever (Smitty's issue) is .080" longer than the original, so if you add any wear, you don't get much movement...depending on how old/worn your Pump is

.

The total section thickness (2 discs, Material and pressed Boss) is .100" thicker, so if your using the Press in Valves as well, it fowls the Valve Spring retainer on the Inlet side when you try to close the pump parts together and leaves zero movement.

My query/enquiry was based on possibly having been sent the wrong Diaphragms (I bought 2 to service 2 pump types with one kit), but I'll never know, because I didn't get a reply.

Here's a few pics of the bits and a pump-

All I can do now is strip the new diaphrams out and carefully dismantle the old diaphragms to use the new material on them and re-press back together. The pumps will have the levers removed and repaired like the one in the Link. I need to see/get some use out if $70.00. even if it takes up my time .

Richard, I'm very interested as it's only a matter of time before I'll end up needing to rebuild the pumps on my Kohlers. Did your kit(s) come from 'Then And Now Automotive' as advertised on maritimedragracing.com ? Curious in that they show two different diaphragms.

I assume you received the larger when you needed the smaller one or were neither of these sizes correct?

Hi Andy, Never/can't see that image on their site, but yes, I dealt with that Company and the Kit version was AC-4S for my Pump versions. There was no option for the hole PCD/spacing size. I know several people had to re- punch the holes in the Diaphragm to fit their Pumps and I had no issue with that requirement.

To avoid hijacking this Thread (sorry), I'm happy to run one in Euro Section to see if a kit or at least the Diaphragm part can be produced in UK.

i may just have to get one of these kits myself. i found one within 130 miles of me, the only problem is i did not get the diaphragm with it. mine is starting to split on the outer edges. it makes it look like it was made with 3 seperate pieces of rubber.
