Steve in Mo 3 #1 Posted June 17, 2013 I have a original 10Hp Kohler on my C-101 Horse, up to this year it has run very well. Started smooking on start up but then ran pretty well. Then it got to the point if it did not start right up it would not start at all no matter what until the next day. I rebuilt the carb and all was good for about three weeks now it wont start again. Has spark at the plug but just cranks and cranks. Checked the plug and I am not sure but it might be the wrong one. I checked the book but found two different numbers, what plug do you all recommed I use and any suggestions on the general starting problem would be greatly appreciated. pacer 3,177 #2 Posted June 17, 2013 The plug is a good starting point - inexpensive and quick and is a likely culprit, I have experienced a similar problem with both my 10hp and my 18hp and a sooted up or older plug was the problem. Next likely are points/condenser, then maybe a carb cleaning - probably just trial & error. The plug originally recommended was Champion H-10 which is no longer in use, do a search on the H-10 and you'll get crossovers. I just replaced my D-180 with NGK B6L
bowtieguy 334 #3 Posted June 17, 2013 If carb is set correctly, I'd concentrated on points...did you file them or replace them?....some Kohlers are kinda particular about their "gap"
