Drive belt for a 416 and 312

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to find drive belt numbers for a 416 and a 312.  I think it is part #107939 if this sounds correct please let me know.  Also I am looking for the part # for the belt that feeds from the pulley on the motor to the mower deck.  I am trying to get the old 312 going so my wife can learn to mow.  :0

Got the model numbers of the tractors? There are 32 models of 312 and 32 models of 416.

The mower belts are list in the parts lists for the mowers so need to identify the mower.

Width of cut 36", 37" 42" or 48"?

Side or rear discharge?

How many blades? 2 or 3?

I do have the number for the 416 but the 312 has seen its better days.  Dad bought it new back in '82 and since it has just about all metal replace at one time or another and there is no original numbers on it.  It does have a 42" SD deck on it and the 416 has a 48" side discharge deck on it

Why does some of the ones I have found on sites like Ebay list the part # at a length of 83"?  Will that 1/2" make a big diffrence?  At first I thought it was just because it was some off brand belt then I seen a factory one listed as 83"?  I am assuming that as long as it reads a part number as 107939 or the new # in which I can not remember what that is right now that the belt should work.

Most original Wheel Horse and Toro belts are an odd length. Aftermarket suppliers only supply us with belts that are an even inch length in most cases. Gates and Napa do have some that are an odd length.

Many are not aware that the original belt dimensions are in the back of an original Wheel Horse chart. They go to Gates or whoever and see the replacement belt listed in even inches because that is all they supply.

Here are the charts
