Cuts 60", won't stripe worth a darn.

Just got a 60" for the 520 this week, put brand new blades on it, and it cuts like a dream. It just doesn't lay a decent stripe.

Has anyone come up with a homemade stripe kit for the 60? On my 48 I attached some plastic lawn edging to the back of the deck with self tap screws and it worked pretty well, but I'm not sure it will work on the 60 because I don't think I can attach it all the way to the closed end.

Any ideas?

Actually the stripe is made by having a roller behind the deck. It's not the blades. The roller lays the grass down.

Make sure your deck is tipped slightly forward, that helps

Yeah, make sure the deck is pitched about an 1/8" to 1/4" down in the front. The 60" deck i had made pretty good stripes, Didnt seem to matter if I used the high lift or the gator blades, it always did well.

Ok, let me rephrase.

Has anyone added any kind of stripe kit to the 60" deck?

One time I saw a small diameter roller, about 4 or 6 inches in diameter that one would use to tow behind the tractor.  Lowes had them.  You might fab up something like that.

I don't have a 60 inch deck, but am interesting in trying one - one of these days.

Good luck,

Bill
