calibear2003 4 #1 Posted June 14, 2013 Hello, I finally decided to get my 312-H out of moth-balls (storage) after being parked since June of last year. I was shock to initally find the engine seized. I thought, how in the world could this happen??? The crank was as tight as if it had been welded in place. I drove the tractor and parked it in its place last summer. Anyways, i put a little oil in the head via removing the spark plug. I went out the next morning and things were unchanged. I decided to work the bold holding on the plastic magnum flywheel and it moved BUT just a hair. I kept moving back and forth ant things finally released. Believe it or not, but i believe that I have/had a mouse living and died under the shrowd. The engine now turns over, but has no spark. Can someone please tell me what the next course of action should be for my remedy?? Thanks in advance everyone!!!
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,393 #2 Posted June 14, 2013 Remove the tin work and clean out the nest. With any luck they have chewed the insulation on the ignition wire and it is shorting against the metal of the engine. The ignition is self powered by it's own flywheel stator and the ignition wire simply grounds the ignition to shut it off. Open circuit (not connected) it should run. calibear2003 4 #3 Posted June 14, 2013 Wow, i was hoping for a simple resolution and that sounds like the best place to look first. I knew that i would need to clean out the mouse mess too. Than you Gary for your quick reply and experience...!!!!!
