gitrdun 0 #1 Posted June 12, 2013 first let me introduce myself. my name is Keith and i am new to the world of Wheel Horse tractors.i have found a d180 to go look at. tractor is not running and is not much to look at. rear tires are flat, paint is faded, mower deck is missing, no 3 pt, seat cracked, etc. i plan to take a battery along just to see if it turns over. asking price is $500.00 and about 75 miles away. this is not my first tractor, just my first Wheel Horse. how hard is it to find a mower deck for these? any comments would be appreciated. thanks keith
Shuboxlover 481 #2 Posted June 12, 2013 The 48" is the same as the the B/C series, but the hanger is a bit different.
546cowboy 302 #3 Posted June 12, 2013 From your description that sounds a little high to me. There is no way I would pay that for a non-running D unless it had a deck, a rear PTO and 3-point.
Sparky-(Admin) 23,199 #4 Posted June 12, 2013 Buying a non-running D can be very risky since there is no way to test/verify the hydro. Try to get the price down! Mike.........
"D"- Man 827 #5 Posted June 12, 2013 Ditto what those above have said. 75 miles adds that much more to the price. Mark.
brandonozz 168 #6 Posted June 13, 2013 I agree with all the above comments. If you knew engine was good and the hydro was strong I still wouldn't get a D without the 3 pt - not for $500. That being said have a 48" deck and doubt I will ever use it on the D. Just not what the D is suited to do in my mind. Quite the gamble unless you know and trust the person your buying from. JamesBe1 84 #7 Posted June 13, 2013 You're taking a risk on it, but if it turns out bad, you can part it out and recoup some of your costs. However, if the engine and hydro are in working order, then you are in good shape. The rest is relatively easy (imho). Take some pics and post them here. We'd like to see. Wheel Horse Kid 105 #8 Posted June 13, 2013 I agree it is overpriced, especially without having a deck or 3 point. See if you can get him down on his price (maybe to $300-$400??). By the way, Welcome to RedSquare!!!
chrisd200(inactive) 56 #9 Posted June 13, 2013 I love the D series but "YIKES" $200 would be safe and I still don't know if I would want it if it has engine/hydro problems. Unfortunately you have no way of knowing so considering the lack of deck and 3 point, I would pass on this one.

pfrederi 18,698 #11 Posted June 15, 2013 A non running hydro is a parts tractor.....There is probably a reason why it was parked.

Keith Keith, I'm sorry to give you the wrong idea. I went back and re-read my post and I believe I misled you. Totally my fault! I wasn't trying to sell you my deck I was just stating that I wouldn't be using it on the D. Where your at you would be much better off finding one closer to you most likely as I am West of Tulsa. That being said, If you do get the tractor and can't find a deck, PM me before your trip and see if I have changed my mind.
